Hiring a Comedian to Heckle Golfers at your Golf Tournament

How to Book a Comedian

This is part of a series about How to Book a Comedian for your comedy club, corporate event, after prom, or private party. See the full series.

Last week I had a comedy performance unlike any I’d done before: I heckled golfers.

Yes, Jackass did this back in the day, but they weren’t hired to perform their shenanigans. They were trying to disrupt people out relaxing.

I was there on purpose.

A group outside Lincoln, Nebraska, turned a golf tournament into a charity event—they were raising money for kids in need—with one big prize: $5,000 to anyone that hit a hole-in-one from the 4th tee.

But they took out a bit of insurance to reduce the chances of anyone hitting the hole-in-one: me.

My job was to distract golfers from arrival on the tee through their backswing (and beyond).

Here’s the deal: people love golfing, and tournaments/charity events are fun… but they can also feel a little predictable. You show up, swing the clubs, eat the food, maybe win a prize.

It’s a lovely day, but nothing out of the ordinary.

And then someone had the bright idea to add comedians to the golf tournament mix.

I don’t know exactly when it began, but comedians heckling golfers exploded in the summer of 2025.

Here’s why golf hecklers work so well.

They instantly add energy.

A well-placed comedian keeps the day from blending into the same old “drive, chip, putt” routine. Suddenly golfers aren’t just focused on their swing—they’re laughing, loosening up, and having a story to tell at dinner.

It’s great for fundraising.

At charity tournaments, heckling has become a goldmine. Golfers can pay to quiet the heckler or donate to “turn the volume up.”

Everyone gets in on the fun, and the cause gets a monetary boost.

It’s memorable.

Every golf outing has food and trophies. But not every outing has a professional comedian roasting someone’s slice into the woods. That’s what guests talk about the following year, when they’re deciding if they want to sign up to play again.

It makes the game more inclusive.

Not everyone shoots under par, but everyone can laugh. Comedy levels the playing field and makes the day feel less about scorecards and more about the cause.

It’s a big return for a small investment.

No giant stage, no expensive headliner. Just a comic with a mic at one hole, and you’ve got hours of entertainment woven right into the round.

(And, to be honest, we didn’t even use a mic or P.A. system at my event. It was just me, yapping with and at the golfers.)

If you want your tournament to stand out—and potentially raise more money—book a comedian to heckle your golfers.

Because golf is great, but golf with laughter is unforgettable.
